What a dramatic entry into Bangkok! After arriving and walking through customs, one of our team members realized they had left their wallet on the plane. To say that it was stressful is an understatement- thankfully, the wallet was found. However, this delayed our arrival at the hotel for about an hour. Needless to say, we were extremely grateful to see our beds (this was 2:30am Australian time).
Today started with an unbelievable breakfast; omelets to order, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, pasta, pancakes, waffles... You get it, it was awesome! The weather hit us hard, and has seen a few members feeling unwell. Fortunately everyone is soldiering through it with a really positive attitude and getting the most out of the experience.
After breakfast we decided to go to MBK; which is a huge air conditioned shop. We spent hours bargaining, finding deals, searching for souvenirs (sorry if that's not spelled right) and finding the occasional gift for a family member/friend. Lunch was spent at Burger King and the girls thought it was particularly funny when they ordered large drinks and received cups that held liters of beverage.
We've had a few adventures with taxis. Jenni is particularly unimpressed with the nature of the driving over here, and Andrew has found himself in a turbo charged car. Felicity was ripped off by a hotel taxi driver (who insisted that he hadn't been prepaid even when he had) but that was soon corrected.
Probably the best adventure was receiving a fish massage at the MBK. This involved submerging our feet into a pool of fish who sucked the dead skin off our feet and calves and massaged at the same time. It was an interesting experience, not properly thought out by the team members with ticklish feet- but an experience nonetheless.
At the moment we are relaxing after a hard day, getting ready for dinner and maybe a little more shopping at the street markets tonight, before departing at 7:30 tomorrow morning. Thanks for continuing to keep us in your prayers!

ReplyDeleteI'm thinking that it was one of the men who left their 'WALLET' on the plane, I don't remember Daniel taking his so it couldn't be him, Sean thinks it's Billy, should there be a prize for who guesses the right person???
